Listen, you guys... Our webmaster, "Iron" Mike, is probably going to delete the posts on this subject, but let me just say this, let me be perfectly clear... You folks who are into such childish banter and SOAP OPERA-esque trivial drivel are NOT doing the nostalgia drag racing scene one bit of good (actually, you're screwing it up)... Like I said, I hope y'all have a good time in the Jersey pine barrens, just because I declined to cover the event, that's no reason for you guys to make a bigger issue of it than it actually is-- It's not a big deal... As much as I appreciate some of you veteran northeastern nostalgia racers (most of you being my longtime friends from the scene) offering to put up your own money for me to do it, I'd just as much appreciate it if you wouldn't offer to do that (I don't think that's right!)-- Save your money and invest it in your cars!!... Nostalgia Drag Racing is a genre of the sport that I've believed in from its humble beginnings-- And it's a form of the sport that I truly believe has a promising future-- You folks who like nothing more than to play "politics" and "sides" with the scene, might not realize it, but you're doing the scene a detrimental disservice... Go run your races, no matter where they may be-- No matter what track they're held at... Focus your attention on keeping your cars running consistently and safely-- And most importantly, do so with a sense of good sportsmanship and fair play--- THAT'S what you should do if you want this scene to endure... I suggest you act like adults and have a good & safe race--AND do your best to work together to represent the nostalgia drag racing scene in a positive manner-- THAT'S what would make me (and all your fans) most proud of you... Thanks... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

Nostalgia racing is as good as dead if the ego maniacs trying to queer it up have their way. Everything you said is the God honest truth scripture. The racers should take your advice very seriously and focus on everything you said is important. Because like always you are so fukkin right.

Doc understands nostalgia racing because she has been friends with those guys forever.  I still get a kick out of the way she horses around with old man Joe Jacono on her FCR video.

Re: NEWS OF THE WEEK THREAD-- DRAG RACING AND YOUR WORLD AT LARGE!!

Semper Fi, thanks for your kind words, although I believe your, ahem, delivery was just a tad over the top-- Please try not to be so harsh with the language you use here (we want this place to remain a "comfortable cyber zone" for women and our extremely impressionable youngins')-- Nonetheless, like you said, I hope that the nostalgia racers do take my advice seriously and to heart (it would certainly be in their best interest to do so)-- They really should focus on what I said, it's for their own good... The childish "politics" and "Soap Opera-esque" games that some of them are subscribing to, does nothing more than bring the nostalgia scene down to a primordial level-- And that's certainly not what will elevate the scene to a degree that will ensure its long term success-- It'll kill it-- plain and simple-- It'll kill it... I want to see my nostalgia drag racing friends bring their (well prepared) race cars to the track, aspire to run their cars in a clean, responsible, and consistent manner-- Focusing their energies on performing to their positive potential and safely making laps on the drag strip-- And of course putting on a good show for the fans in the grandstands is also a consideration they should keep in mind-- THAT'S this "Doc's" guaranteed prescription plan for a "healthy" nostalgia drag racing scene... Oh, and Semper Fi, I'll be sending you more DRU video freebies to pass on to our U.S. Marine troops stationed overseas-- I greatly admire the work you do for our guys 'n' gals in uniform-- I'm glad to be a longtime supporter of your efforts... Ftroop, you're correct, I understand the "REAL" nostalgia racers because I have known them as friends for quite a long time-- 99% of them are genuinely good people who I am fond of... I believe that Joe Jacono is a prime example of an individual who does our nostalgia scene proud... And of course, like I've said many times on these cyber pages,  I give Bob Rosetty a lot of credit for tracking down Joe Jacono (who was "retired" in Florida), and bringing Joe back to the strip to enjoy this nostalgia drag racing revival... I enjoyed interviewing both of those fine gentlemen on our FUNNY CAR REUNION RAW video... They're the kind of quality people who keep me interested and dedicated to this scene... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

There are definitely a few jack offs who could use Doc's prescription. LOL

Re: NEWS OF THE WEEK THREAD-- DRAG RACING AND YOUR WORLD AT LARGE!!

Margery, the age-old adage attributed to the French writer and Philosopher, Francois Narie Arouet, better known by most as simply Voltaire, says that "Common Sense Is Not So Common"... That extremely wise quote certainly applies in some factions of the drag racing community... I know that I frequently attempt to "lighten up" my commentaries here at Drag Racing Underground, by injecting small doses of friendly sarcasm and humor, because I do realize that some people need a little bit of humor included in a lesson to make it easier to absorb (I think it's Mary Poppins who sang, "Just a Spoon Full of Sugar Makes the Medicine go Down")-- And I'm genuinely glad that there's some smart folks in this sport, like you guys, who can appreciate the humor... But I do hope that somehow my perspective can help those who read here, who haven't exactly been thinking clearly, and give them a "wake up call" to  better themselves, and behave in a manner, so they'll be less of a "handicap" to the sport, and more of an "asset" to the sport... The sport of Drag Racing has enough of a battle on its hands, we don't need "our own" from within the sport to be constantly "dragging us down" further, and making us look st*pid, giving valuable ammunition to those who already oppose what we do, those who already paint us with a broad brush of detrimental & thuggish stereotypes, and also want drag racing erased from their municipalities (and probably erased off the planet)... I want all the people involved with this sport to make us PROUD, not make us constantly have to shrug our shoulders in disappointment, and have to sigh & say to ourselves, "oh well"...  Thanks for reading, I really do appreciate all of you for making this a "cyber stop" on your daily internet travels... You folks are the best friends a gal could ever ask for... Please try to be good and to do good... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

Re: NEWS OF THE WEEK THREAD-- DRAG RACING AND YOUR WORLD AT LARGE!!

another one retires,

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/motor/nhra/2010-03-10-nhra-sampey_N.htm

I'll never forget being @ Etown in 2007 when she ran the first 6.80 PSM Run @ 6.871 a record that stood until Houston 2009 and is Still the Raceway Park PSM Track ET record. I was recording it and put it up on youtube back then ("rule" wasn't enforced back then), but then after I deleted my profile a few months ago, and that video went with all the rest. that was during a weekend that I predicted because of the great conditions all the track records would be broken and a national record would be set, and other than FC Speed, PSM Speed, TAD ET & Speed & Nitrous PM ET & Speed (not one nitrous Pro mod that year contested, all blown except from Troy Coughlin's Turbo entry), every other track record was set along with the PSM National Record.

Good Luck in your Future Endeavors Angelle,

Shirley couldn't find funding for her and Angelle's feminine dream team. So might as well get married and do the suburban wife thing.

Dear Doc, in case you haven't noticed, us gear heads are a low brow bunch of hooligans. We don't know any French philosophers, or understand your five dollar words. LOL

All kidding aside, I agree with every word you typed. People want to shut us down. We need to be on our best behavior even if it pisses us off. P.S. Please check your email. We want to buy more of your cool nostalgia funny footage for tv.

Re: NEWS OF THE WEEK THREAD-- DRAG RACING AND YOUR WORLD AT LARGE!!

ANGELLE SAMPEY PUTS IN FOR RETIREMENT-- WE WISH HER ALL THE BEST AND THANK HER FOR ALL SHE HAS SELFLESSLY GIVEN TO THE SPORT OF DRAG RACING-- ANGELLE IS OUR TWO-WHEELED ANGEL
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NYnitro is correct... With the "National Guard" deal for the Top Fuel partnership of Shirley Muldowney & Angelle Sampey now a reported bust, it looks like Angelle has decided to "switch gears" in her life plan, and retire from drag racing... We all wish Angelle Sampey the very best... "Retiring" from drag racing is "OK" to do... I realize that there's still some folks in the sport who subscribe to the old "Charlie Manson-ish" and "Cult" approach, that no matter how old you are, or what your reasons for wanting to leave drag racing are, you're simply not supposed to "walk away" from the sport-- Some folks like to mock and chastise those who decide to leave us for other pursuits-- And yes, it can get pretty nasty at times, when NHRA E'Town National Event T/F winner, Cristen Powell, decided to gracefully "walk away" from the driver's seat, a sector of the "drag racing family" became a lot more like the "Manson Family" and gave her plenty of undeserved grief for her decision... Let's face it, Angelle Sampey is an individual who has truly blessed us and this sport with some of the best years of her life-- She has made incredible sacrifices to compete successfully in NHRA Championship Drag Racing-- And she sure has been a successful competitor, as NYnitro pointed out, Angelle definitely made some great history at E'Town...  I hope she enjoys equal success in her marriage and family ambitions-- She's a stand-up gal for sure... SpeedChannel, I forwarded your request for nostalgia Funny Car footage to Steve-- He's handling all our TV broadcast licensing and related matters, I simply don't have the time anymore for that-- You should hear from him soon... Steve is a good guy, you'll like him... Thanks... Anyways, in closing, once again, very best to our friend Angelle-- You made us all very proud... Enjoy your new direction in life... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

Hey Diana. Shirl Greer passed away. I think I have a photo of you and him hamming it up at the FCR. Shirl liked your spunk. He was a hoot.  RIP
